Jeannette Washington, M.EdJeannette is a former Speech Language Pathologist with nearly a decade of experience working with students that exhibit special abilities. Her expertise in the field of dyslexia has been solicited for articles in The Washington Post and The Detroit Free Press. After attending a coding boot camp and working as a back-end developer, Jannette began boasting the importance of accessibility, inclusivity and neuro diversity in the tech industry. She currently work with Microsoft Philanthropies and Detroit Public Schools Community District teaching high school students how to code.

Accessibility Camp Chicago Website Launches

This website, the Accessibility Camp Chicago site, just launched. Check out all the available information regarding the event, including location, speakers and sponsors.

We will be adding more information leading up to the event on Saturday, September 8th. And we will continue combing the site for any accessibility issues that we introduced to the site. Several of the A11YChi organizers visited several potential sites for our Accessibility Camp Chicago. After plenty of deliberation, our chosen venue was the offices of STATS LLC.

STATS“The venue is completely accessible, large, bright and offers the flexibility we need,” stated Dennis Deacon, organizer of the Chicago Digital Accessibility & Inclusive Design Meetup. “There are several rooms designated quiet rooms, for individuals who need a break for the inputs of conversations and presentations.
