Being an accessibility-themed event, we strive to be as accessible and inclusive as possible. Below, we attempt to outline the areas in which accessibility has been considered.

Venue

Our venue for this event, STATS, has been vetted as being ADA-compliant. There is an accessible door leading to the building. There is an elevator leading to the offices on the 22nd floor. Entrance widths should accommodate most wheelchairs and scooters. There are no ramps (except one leading to an outside eating area). There are ADA-compliant restrooms with guard rails.

Presentations

We have made every known attempt to ensure that presentations will be accessible by as many individuals as possible. Presenters have been guided as to best practices in making their slides easy to see and read, considering color contrast, background/foreground colors and font size. Presenters have been guided to describe their slides audibly. Presenters will use a microphone to speak and repeat any questions into the microphone.

Live Captions & American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters

Accessibility Camp Chicago’s ability to offer captions and ASL interpreters is based on sponsorship funding. We will do our best to provide live captions and ASL interpreters. However, if funding is not available, we will look to other methods of providing live captions for all presentations.

Food and Beverages

Accessibility Camp Chicago will feed its attendees with a delicious and inclusive selection of food and beverages. In addition, we are ensuring that we consider those who prefer or need sugar free, gluten free, vegan, dairy free and nut free options.
